Publication Ethics Principles
Publication ethics is a self-regulatory mechanism that is binding for authors, reviewers, and publishers, aimed at ensuring reliability, transparency, and academic integrity in scholarly publishing. Ethical publishing standards are adopted to promote high-quality scientific production, to maintain public trust in scientific knowledge, and to safeguard the dignity and credibility of academic work.
Within this framework, honest researchers:
Do not engage in plagiarism,
Do not misrepresent or inaccurately cite sources,
Do not distort opposing views,
Do not destroy, conceal, or falsify data.
Peer-reviewed journals are fundamental platforms that support and implement the scientific method. Therefore, it is essential that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors, and readers) strictly adhere to ethical principles.
The Bezmiefkâr Journal is committed to nationally and internationally recognized principles of research and publication ethics. The journal operates in accordance with the provisions of the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, and the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive.
Duplicate Publication
Duplicate publication refers to the publication of the same article or substantially similar content in more than one journal. In such cases, the editor will return the manuscript without initiating the review process. In addition, the editor may:
Impose a temporary submission embargo on the author,
Publicly disclose the situation if deemed necessary,
Implement one or more of these measures simultaneously.
Simultaneous Submission of the Same Study to Multiple Journals
Authors may not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. If simultaneous submission is detected, the editor may:
Return the manuscript without review,
Reject the manuscript without considering referee reports,
Impose a temporary ban on new submissions by the author,
Notify the author’s affiliated institution if necessary.
Plagiarism Prevention and Screening
Plagiarism is defined as the partial or complete use of others’ ideas, methods, data, texts, visuals, or works without proper citation in accordance with academic referencing rules.
To prevent ethical violations, all manuscripts submitted to the Bezmiefkâr Journal are screened using plagiarism detection software. Similarity reports are carefully examined by the editor. If practices contrary to academic writing standards or ethical principles are identified, the manuscript is returned to the author(s).
Plagiarism, duplication, fabricated authorship or denial of authorship, data fabrication, data falsification, salami slicing, copyright infringement, and the concealment of conflicts of interest are considered unethical behaviors. Manuscripts containing such violations are removed from publication, even if they have already been published.
Fabrication and Falsification
Fabrication and falsification include producing data not based on research, preparing studies based on non-existent data, presenting research that was never conducted as if it had been carried out, or deliberately altering data.
Tampering with research records, presenting unused methods as if they were used, excluding data that do not support the hypothesis, or manipulating data and/or results to serve particular interests are also considered ethical violations.
Protection of Participants’ Personal Data
The Bezmiefkâr Journal requires that all research involving personal or sensitive data of human participants that are not legally publicly available must obtain ethical committee approval. Studies lacking such approval are not considered for evaluation.
Handling Allegations of Ethical Misconduct
Editors take all necessary precautions to prevent the publication of manuscripts involving plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, or other forms of research misconduct. In cases where ethical violations are suspected, the editorial board conducts an impartial and rigorous review process.
Reporting Ethical Violations
Readers who notice a significant error, inaccuracy, or suspected ethical violation in an article published in the Bezmiefkâr Journal may report the issue by sending an email to [email protected]. All reports are handled confidentially and approached constructively.
Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews
For studies based on surveys, interviews, or observations:
Ethical committee approval must be obtained,
Ethical approval details (committee name, date, and reference number) must be clearly stated in the manuscript,
Where applicable, it must be indicated that informed consent was obtained from participants.
Editorial Confidentiality
Editors of the Bezmiefkâr Journal treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information about manuscripts is not shared with third parties without the authors’ consent, except in cases of serious suspected ethical misconduct, where limited disclosure may be necessary.
Complaints and Appeals Process
Complaints and appeals regarding the journal’s editorial processes, policies, or published content should be submitted via email to [email protected]. All applications are evaluated confidentially, promptly, and constructively.
Scientific appeals against editorial or reviewer decisions must be supported by a detailed justification. Only one appeal is considered for each manuscript.
Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest arises when academic judgment may be influenced by financial or personal interests. Authors are required to clearly disclose all sources of financial support received during the conduct of the research and the preparation of the manuscript, as well as any potential conflicts of interest. If there is no funding source, this should also be stated.
Editors do not participate in decision-making processes concerning manuscripts authored by themselves or their close associates and uphold the principle of impartial evaluation.
